Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Create Discord Application

Go to the Discord Developer Portal and click "New Application". Give your bot a name and accept the terms of service.

Create Bot & Copy Token

Navigate to the "Bot" tab in your application settings. Click "Add Bot", then click "Reset Token" to generate and copy your bot token. Keep this token secret.

Tip: Never share your bot token publicly or commit it to version control.

Set Permissions & Intents

In the Bot tab, enable "Message Content Intent" under Privileged Gateway Intents. Then go to OAuth2 > URL Generator, select "bot" scope and set permissions: Send Messages, Read Message History, Embed Links.

Tip: Message Content Intent is required for the bot to read and respond to messages.

Configure on OneClaw

Log in to your OneClaw dashboard. Create a new instance, select Discord as the platform, paste your Discord bot token, and enter your AI API key (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).

Tip: You can switch AI models anytime from the dashboard.

Invite Bot & Deploy

Use the OAuth2 URL from Step 3 to invite the bot to your Discord server. Then click "Deploy" in your OneClaw dashboard. Your AI bot will be online within minutes.

Tip: You need "Manage Server" permission to invite bots to a Discord server.
